I’m beyond excited for the Johannesburg leg of the international HOLI ONE Colour Festival! The HOLI ONE Colour Festival has become synonymous with peace, unity and celebration. Right now, this joyful festival is just what we need in South Africa. Next month, May 2015, the city of Johannesburg will be exploding in a world of colour as the festival kicks off for yet another year of joy. On Friday 1 May 2015 (yes, conveniently a public holiday), Johannesburg will see the return of the HOLI ONE Colour Festival, which brings together partygoers of all ages, races, cultures and personalities to experience an unforgettable festival of light, love, and, of course, colour.
Sharing the same message of hope and positivity as the Hindu holiday of Holi, this non-religious festival aims to unite thousands in an event that blends music, dance, visuals and performance art. Festivals are held around the world in every continent, including Africa, Australia, America, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
Partygoers dressed in white soon find themselves united through a rainbow of colours as every hour on the hour, a countdown begins, signalling the throwing of brightly coloured, eco-friendly powder that fills the air. Along with powder in five different colours, food and drinks will also be on sale, while a host of facilities will be provided to ensure that revellers are kept safe and comfortable for the duration of the festival.
“I think this was one of the best parties of my life.” – Nici, HOLI ONE Bremen
This year’s line-up promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, with a selection of local and international talents in the electronic dance music scene taking to the stage. Setting just the right tone for this year’s festival are your MCs Morgan Beatbox and K@$his King along with the following artists:
Ricardo Da Costa
Rocca & Martini
Eugene Le Grand
Jason La Roux
Tickets start at R250 per person for general access, with special colour packages also offered at R350 per person for general access plus five bags of powder. Tickets can be purchased via Nutickets (http://holione.nutickets.co.za/JHB2015).
Doors open at 12h00, and the celebrations will continue until 22h00. Festivalgoers are advised to wear white clothing that can withstand a bit of colour infusion (getting covered in glorious colour is, of course, what this event is all about). Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the festival but may not be brought in from outside.
