Before there was Wakaberry and Zoku, we had Mayo. No, not frozen mayonnaise. This is an old school drinking yoghurt. South African kids from the 80s and 90s may fondly remember buying Mayo from the spaza shop or the Greek corner café on a hot summer’s day. My favourite was always the cream soda flavour.
We were talking about Mayo on Easter break and whether the manufacturer still made it. It had been years since I had one. Just my luck finding these when the summer is over, haha. I haven’t seen them at any of the supermarket chains in the suburbs. I bought these at a little supermarket in the city centre, while my sister was visiting from boarding school. Sharing this awesome find with her was magic!
